Today, our centre was buzzing with beats, rhythm, and creative energy as we welcomed the incredible Miss Tanya from Junkyard Beats for a one-of-a-kind musical experience!
Miss Tanya introduced the children to the fascinating world of junk percussion, where everyday discarded items — like tins, plastic containers, and boxes — were transformed into real instruments.
The session was not only packed with fun, but also delivered a powerful message about sustainability, creativity, and the magic of recycling.
🎶 The children explored:

How sound is made using different materials
Rhythmic patterns using body percussion and DIY drums
Ways to reuse and repurpose items in fun, meaningful ways
Expressing themselves through music, movement, and imagination
There was clapping, stomping, tapping, and lots of joyful noise as our young learners discovered that music isn’t just about instruments — it’s about innovation, curiosity, and resourcefulness.
This experience sparked so many ideas and conversations about the environment, music, and how we can all play a part in looking after our planet.
We’re excited to carry this energy forward into our own classroom projects — who knows what kind of instruments we’ll create next?
